Apple has done some good things, I am not disagreeing there, but I think that if they are are best role model we in pretty bad shape.

I like driving cars.

I dislike unions; it’s a side effect of being an entrepreneur and spending time trying to set up trade-show booths without being threatened. Unions, in my life, are protection rackets.

But the real problem is — and I don’t know whether to blame management, the unions, the designers, or whom — the real problem is, there are no good American cars.

Sure, the ‘vette is good on paper, and it’s a great performance value. But it feels like ass and I can’t help but thinking that my big mass of plastic is compensating for *something*.

There are pretty cars, like the Solstice. But none of them drive well.

In my garage, I have a 335i, a Lotus, and an Audi. I also hide an ’86 Isuzu P’up. I’ve owned and raced Miatas. They’re all smallish cars; they handle well (well, the Audi only so well), and they’ve all lasted forever.

With all due respect, when America makes a good car that’s a value for the money, I’ll buy it. Maybe someday the Tesla will get under $50K.

Until then, let’s focus on music videos, microcode, and delivering pizza in 30 minutes or less.
